Truth hits, and truth hurts
I was walking down the aisles of Walgreens the other day with a box of band-aids in one hand and mommy's debit card in the other when it struck me -- I'm going to be broke as a joke next year. Every little thing that I am used to getting standard, without question..as in shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, toothepaste.. is now going to be added to my list of expenses. As if 13 grand a year for college wasn't enough...
So the question is..should I be saving every little bit of money I have for next year...or should I continue spending and embrace the fact that I will be joining thousands or other poor college kids next year?
Psh, I opt for the second choice.

You know you're a 90's kid if...
You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"
You thought Brain would finally take over the world
You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"
You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.
You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.
You remember reading "Goosebumps"
When rugrats came on, you could tell which episode it was by the name. and you had the theme song memorized.
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"
You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.
You remember the craze then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.
You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...
You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green Ranger were meant to be together.
You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up"
You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates
You ever got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide
You wore socks over leggings scrunched down
" Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS ELEPHANTS ELEPHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE"
he jumped so high high high he touched the sky sky sky and he didnt come back back back til the forth of july ly ly he jumped so low ow ow he stumbed he's toe oe oe and thats the end end end of the elephants show ow ow
You remember boom boxes vs. cd players
You knew what it meant to say "Care Bear Stare"
You remember Alf, the little brown alien from Melmac and Vicki the Robot from "MY Little Wonder"
You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool
You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"
You played and or collected "Pogs"
You used to pretend to be a MIGHTY MORPHIN Power Ranger and you owned a Skip It
You had at least one GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere
You watched the original Care Bears, and Ninja Turtles
Yikes pencils and erasers were the shit.
You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out.
You remember a time before the WB.
You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"
You thought it would be so cool to be Alex Mack.
You know the Macarena by heart.. LOL
" Talk to the hand" ... enough said
You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"
you saw the Movie "IT", and had nightmares like crazy.
you remember nancy drew books.
you remember waking up to watch david the gnome.

YESSSS
I really haven't posted anything for a long time, so here's an update on my life. Things are good. Everytime something bad happens, it seems as though God gives me something great to make up for it. So I am content!
Turnabout was last weekend, and it was pretty darn good. I'm proud. I'll post some more pictures that I stole from everyone else.
Besides that, not too much is going on. Sometimes I get really restless and the "senioritis" kicks in. But hey, 4 months and we GRADUATE! :)

^ Kellye when we were trying to figure out the bill! Haha...

^ Ingo, our FES, leading everyone in a dance. THAT was hilarious!

^ ME AND DAN!

^ Me & Mel geeking at the dance. ahh don't really remember this, but I guess it's typical.

^ Hardcore gangsta

^ Haha, I think this is a good picture of how me and rach are when we're together lol

^ Yeah, this one is from Em's blog!

^ Fes again, this kid is so entertaining! (Notice Eric in the background)
I stole a lot of people's pictures from homecoming and stuff, so I'll post some of those, too.

Britt and I attacked the pic of Brooke Hogan that was posted everywhere...

Aww "freshman foxes" during homecoming week. that rocked.

haha we were amazing.

Dorno's pick up line

Scott's pick up line

Abe's pick up line

Stormin the court after the slinger game...! That was honestly the best game I've ever been to.

Our "cheerleaders"

Me and Kel one random night during summer

W/ Alyssa after sledding at Emily's

Before sledding...

Dorno, his sunglasses, & me

Some of the sophomore boys went penguin sledding & I just thought they were crazy

I guess you can't really see it, but Tyler Dorn had a staple in his head because someone bit him during a game
Well, that's all for now. Comment!

Turnabout and a quote

As we grow up, we learn that the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

You place your hand on His bible, and when you swear to tell the truth.
His name is on our greatest monuments an' all our money too.
An' when we pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand:
There's no separation, we're one nation under Him.
In God, we still trust here in America,
He's the one we turn to every time the going gets rough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Now there are those among us,
Who wanna push Him out.
And erase his name from everything,
This country's all about.
From the schoolhouse to the courthouse,
They're silencing His word,
An' now it's time for all believers,
To make our voices heard.
In God, we still trust here in America,
He's the one we turn to every time the goin' gets rough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America,
Here in America,
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America.

Starbuck's mochas are my anti-drug
Wow, I feel like I don't even have time to shower.
Well, obviously I will, but finals week really blows, ya know?
I was just at Starbucks for FIVE HOURS studying Anatomy. Not even kidding. And did I mention I've been up since 3:30 this morning? Yeah, good thing for that super-caffinated super-sweet drink I just had. Hey, if you ever need to study, I suggest going to Starbaucks, though. It was pretty quiet and I kept my focus, which was good. I'm pretty sure my brains gonna burst and start gushing out medical terms like "triquentrum" and "synovial fluid" and "thoracic cavity" any minute now.
But really, I've got to go study chemistry now. Goodnight, all!

Good things...
Every day Mr. Otte starts class of with a chance to share the good things that have happened to us in the past 24 hours. Honestly, it's my favorite part of class... so I'm going to mimic him and have my own "good things" blog. Except, I am going to update you on the good things that have happened in my life since my last post.
1. My doctrinal paper is officially completed and turned in with a smirk of approval from P-Mehl himself.
2. There are now TWO presents under the Christmas tree.
3. I had Pizza Hut for dinner last night.
4. After my first failed attempt to create a grilled cheese masterpiece on my sick day, my second turned out to be nothing short of extravagent.
5. How-could-I-forget-this! I got my license back :)
6. We are making gingerbread houses in Foods
7. MVF is in full blast -- we have these sweet foam #1 hands.. and the boys won the LITs!
8. I found the perfect gift at the student auction
9. I got an A on a speech that I spent many long and hard hours on
10. Kalendae et Fortuna sunt magnae and pulchrae!
Well, that's all for now. Goodnight!

Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.
I'll try not to be too pessimistic in this post.. but I'm rollin off a pretty crummy day so we'll see where this goes. I feel like I've been incredibly moody lately.. actually I know I've been incredibly moody lately, but I just can't help it. It seems as though the highs have been really high and the lows have been really low. I'm disappointed in myself.. where my life is going.. and how I've changed. The things I used to care about don't even cross my mind these days. I do realize that is a problem, but what can I do about that? All I really wanna do right now is go on vacation. Or graduate. Or something. But I guess this restlessness is common for seniors to feel..?
Anyways, today was one of those lows. I can't really explain why, but I just got into a bad mood that I couldn't shake off. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just change our attitude about something with the snap of our fingers? Yeah, well when I try to make myself un-crabby I just end up thinking about my "crabbiness" more, and then I just get more crabby. If that makes any sense. I guess it does to me.
Wow.. makes me sound depressed or something, doesn't it? Really, I am not. I'm just in, idk, a "rut" you could call it. A rut of pessimism that I can't figure out how to pull myself out of. But anyways...
Tonight I had a chat with Amanda Bublitz and for some reason that girl can always make me feel better. I like those kind of people.. you know the type. The people who seem to understand everything you throw at them. Well, thank God for friends. And thank God for every new day he gives me.
Something that I've been kind of thinking about lately is what Paul says in Phillipians 4:11 "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances."
See, what is interesting is that he does not say "I am content in all situations". He says that he "has learned" to be content whatever the circumstances. So what he's saying is that contentment doesn't just happen. It is very much about one's attitude. It's a very personal thing.
And Paul certainly had some pretty nasty things happen to him. Yet he was content through all of this?
It's hard for me to be content though. It seems as though I'm always wanting more. I'm always striving for what I can't have. I always want the newest thing... I always want the most attention or the most friends or the prettiest clothes. It's like everything I think I can't have, I want. And when I get it, I want more.
So I guess I've got something to work on.

Hey I don't really know why I'm updating... I really should be writing my speech right now. But, I don't feel much like doing it & I'll probably be up late anyways, so whatever.
Not too much has been going on. I worked a lot this weekend and that's about it. Last Friday was Laguna day & that was fun... check out the pix in Emily's blog. Can't wait for 2maro & for Mean Girls Week!
Uh...my brother just sold me a candy bar for a dollar. That was a rip off.
Well, I guess that's all. My life is boring right now. IDK, maybe something fun will happen. TTYL.

*Life was so much easier when your clothes didn't match and boys had cooties*
Not that I'm complaining. But it's funny how things change, ya know?
It's seems like these days college and graduation is on everyone's minds -- including mine. Rachel and I were talking about this not too long ago.. sometimes I think about how routine my life has been the past few years. I'm so comfortable with where I am, but then again, I'm ready to move on. Last year, my life was pretty much the same as it is now. I mean, I was younger and I had different classes. But I hung out with the same people and did the same sort of things. But NEXT year at this time, my life is going to be completely different. I'll be a college student.. living somewhere else...hanging out with different people and doing different things. It's exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. I want to move on in my life so bad right now, but I also don't want to waste my time away wishing for it to pass sooner. I never wanted to be one of those Seniors who bummed around saying "I hate school... I can't wait 'til I get out of here". And I'm not. But now that Homecoming is over and exams are fast approaching, it seems as though there is nothing to look forward too. And sometimes, I really just can't wait to get out of here.
I guess it's all about my attitude, right?
I'm working on that.
Well, that's my philosophical thoughts for the week. I'll post again sooner or later. Until then, Audios Amigos!

What?! An update?...
Hey-- I'm back. It looks like I'm gonna have a lot more time to update from now on, so you can start reading this thing again.
Uh, what's new in my life? Lately, a lot of crap. But it's all gonna be alright. The first quarter of the year was so busy; I felt like I didn't have time for anything. But now that everything's come to an end I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.
It was a good cross country season for the team this year. I didn't do so hot, but our team was so huge that we had 2 varsities and a full jv. When I started my freshman year, we had varsity and a few undedicated jvs. We used to take the big green van to the meets... this year we took a bus. It's kinda sad to see something that I took part in for 4 years be over and done with. But hey, I'm thinkin' track this year...?
Homecoming was fun. It seems like too long ago to tell much about it, but it was absolutely the best one we've had.
Uh. That's all. Hopefully something new and exciting will happen.
Until next time...

I feel like I should post, but this one's gonna be short and sweet.
Things have been fairly busy with work, school, cross country and student council.
Homecoming is in two weeks! I can't wait! I just love everything that comes with homecoming: the dress up days, school spirit, class bonding, shortened class periods, pep rallies, bonfires, football games, getting pretty!, dances, decorations, pictures....
Everyone is just so happy during that week &
I love it, I love it, I love it!

I'm not usually a lyrics kind of girl, but..
You make me feel so young
You make me feel like spring has sprung
Every time I see you grin
I’m such a happy individual
The moment that you speak
I want to go and play hide-and-seek
I want to go and bounce the moon
Just like a toy balloon
You and i, are just like a couple of tots
Running across the meadow
Picking up lots of forget-me-nots
You make me feel so young
You make me feel there are songs to be sung
Bells to be rung, and a wonderful fling to be flung
And even when I’m old and gray
I’m gonna feel the way I do today
’cause you make me feel so young
"You Make Me Feel So Young" -Frank Sinatra
Most people I know think that I'm crazy
I know at times I act a little hazy
But if that's my and you should know it
In every way help me to show it
For most of my life I've lived a delusion
Material gain has caused me confusion
But slowly in time I learned that my place is
Tell all that I meet the glory that God is
And that's why...
Most people I know think that I'm crazy
I know at times I act a little hazy
But if that's my and you should know it
In every way help me to show it
"Most People I Know (Think That I'm Crazy)" -Billy Thorpe
That’s life, that’s what people say.
You’re riding’ high in april,
Shot down in may.
But I know I’m gonna change that tune,
When I’m back on top in june.
That’s life, funny as it seems.
Some people get their kicks,
Steppin’ on dreams;
But I don’t let it get me down,
’cause this ol’ word keeps getting around.
I’ve been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn and a king.
I’ve been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing:
Each time I find myself flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race.
That’s life, I can’t deny it,
I thought of quitting,
But my heart just won’t buy it.
If I didn’t think it was worth a try,
I’d roll myself up in a big ball and die
"That's Life" -Frank Sinatra
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
’cause there’s a million things to be
You know that there are
And if you want to live high, live high
And if you want to live low, live low
’cause there’s a million ways to go
You know that there are
Chorus:
You can do what you want
The opportunity’s on
And if you can find a new way
You can do it today
You can make it all true
And you can make it undo
You see ah ah ah
Its easy ah ah ah
You only need to know
Well if you want to say yes, say yes
And if you want to say no, say no
’cause there’s a million ways to go
You know that there are
And if you want to be me, be me
And if you want to be you, be you
’cause there’s a million things to do
You know that there are
Chorus
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
’cause there’s a million things to be
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are

HERE ARE MINE
List five of your idiosyncrasies and then tag five friends to do the same.
1. I do my homework in the morning. Most people think I am totally wierd for doing that, but for some reason I am extremely efficient at 3 in the morning. Once Kel and I spent an entire week working on a project for advanced comp. One of the papers we had written was just crap, so I started it over at 3 a.m. the morning the project was due. Call me crazy, but that paper was dang good.
2. I act on impulse rather than having a thought out plan. A.K.A.. I never make plans. I don't really like being tied down to one option. If I feel like going to a football game, I'll go. If I feel like staying home and cleaning my room, I'll do that. Not making plans with anyone until last minute gives me the freedom to do whatever! Sometimes that backfires when I sit home alone on a Saturday night because everyone else is busy, but ehhh..
3. I am bad with remembering dates and numbers. I don't know any of my friends birthdays or phone numbers. Some people get offended, but its just how my brain operates. I just can't remember things like that. (I guess thats a good thing for my future husband.. I can't get too upset about him forgetting our anniversary if I forgot it myself!)
4. I'm not real sure if this is considered an idiosyncras, but I have a big problem with talking in my sleep. In fact, I even have a problem with sleepwalking. The thing is, I always have these huge involved dreams. I often dream about something and then think that it really happened.
5. I clean my ears every morning. IDK, Jared told me that is wierd. But honestly, think of how gross it is when people have a bunch of gunk in their ear! That is not me.

I've really gone and done it now.
I did something that many people didn't expect of me. I conformed to society. I followed the crowd against my gut. Truly, I gave in to peer pressure. What happened, you wonder..?
I got a cell phone. Haha. It was really my mom's fault, because she got it for me. Yes, I realize that I was pretty much the only person on this PLANET without one. I was justified, though, with the simple truth that I don't talk on the phone much. However, I recieved many complaints on how "no one could ever get ahold of me". So yes, I got a phone. Ask me for the number sometime.
Some girls are destructive with a cell phone in their hand. I am proud to say that I am not.

pseudo
I’m not exactly sure how to word what I want to say in this post.. so we’ll see how this comes out. Today I came home from my last day at Camp Phillip as a Junior Counselor. I don’t want this all to sound cliché, but I can’t believe my experience on Jr. Staff is over with. Also, I cannot express how much of my life has been molded by my time at Camp.
When I signed up for Junior Staff, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I had only been a camper for two years, and to me, camp was fun -- but not all that important. Junior Staff just seemed like the next step up, and I felt too lazy to apply. But Emily Waldorf pushed and pushed for me to apply. Little did I know that God was working through her to benefit me. I came home from that first training week with a desire to live my faith.
My second summer of Jr. Staff I grew, but in a different way. I made new friendships and found new role models. I became closer with people who have become very important in my life. That desire I acquired my 1st year on Junior Staff was joined the 2nd year with the relationships necessary to keep living my faith.
This past summer was my third summer on Junior Staff. I was an AC, one of the top dogs, and I feel that I grew the most this summer. Training week was an opportunity for me to get to know the younger Junior Staff. It also gave me the chance to lead others using my experience. To me, the praise/worship campfire was extremely humbling, but also encouraging. My first volunteer week was so much fun, but most of all, I was touched by how much the girls in my cabin grew throughout the week. Being able to watch the girls transform was the most incredible thing. This past half-week I was up at Camp volunteering for Jesus Cares. I have never done anything like that before, and I faced new challenges. I have come home a different person, and I really thank God for the opportunity he gave me.
So to end this post (to all you fellow camp people:) I would like to do pseudo-“reflections”. Put YOUR finger on your nose and comment me on how you feel Junior Staff has changed YOU.
